Big Day Out Melbourne 2012 quick review

here's my quick simple review of the acts and various other items at the Summer institution, the Big Day Out-Melbourne Version:
Public Transport-pretty frequent and not excessively crowded.  At Flinders Street anyways trying to board from Southern Cross looked like a nightmare

Lines: Smaller than previous years, to get in, for food and merchandise.  Maybe not selling out was a good thing?

Food and drink: A high quality and varied selection, with free V-Shots, Slurpees and Iced Tea also on offer.

Calling all Cars: Frantic in a good way.  Horrible moustache on the bass player. Loved the kit throwing into the crowd. Entertaining even if you don't like the music.  But I did.

Bonjah: Energetic, their passion can't be faulted.

Stonefield: Admirable and extremely talented for such a young age.  Have some kinks which will doubtless be ironed out over time.

Parkway Drive: Not bad musically.  Can't shake the impression they're jocks who just took up music because they were bored.  The Bass player looks like a surfer, geez.  Beachballs good value

Boy & Bear: Dull name. Seem like nice guys.  Another horrible moustache.  Dull opening which couldn't save their improving setlist.

Hilltop Hoods: Not as good as they can be, but still good fun and have a loyal following.

Architecture in helsinki: Debbie.

The Living End: For the first time ever they look slightly old.  Can't fault their musicallity though. Old stuff is still their best stuff.

My Chemical Romance: Dropped their emo tag. Good. New music sounded good till they started playing dance music. Oh dear.

Bluejuice: Well... weird. But what did you expect?

The Jezabels: Talent there for all to see. Only a couple of songs which do their talent justice out of their set however.

Foster the people: Pumped up kicks-need more be said?

Kasabian-Arrogant frontman (brilliant!), guitarist, singer's hair looked cool.  But songs just not there, still seem unsure of whether they want people to rock, dance or balladeer.

Soundgarden: IT'S FREAKING SOUNDGARDEN.  Sound was a bit quiet. Interesting setlist, not their most mainstream but that's not a bad thing.  Kim Thayill needs to lighten up.  Ben Shepherd looked older than usual, though he was a roadie initially. Chris Cornell's hair looked amazing with a fan in front of him, voice still great.  Matt Cameron the real star of the show, what a drummer.

Kanye West: Great entrance.  Great arrogance. Great songs.  Can appreciate what he's trying to do with the dancer's though I don't enjoy it.  Needs to get rid of the autotune.  And the whining/ranting.  People care what you have to say Kanye but not when it's so indulgent and just about a girl ditching you.  Can put on entertainment though.  Feel sorry for the dancer's with the wedgies.

Nero:Got rid of the dropkicks in front of me during Kanye, so for that I thank you
